Catrin Johansson’s research in organizational communication and public relations focuses on communication, leadership and change, crisis communication and internal social media. Catrin leads a research project in Communicative Leadership carried out in co-operation with several Swedish companies, e.g. Sandvik and Volvo. The aim of the project is to develop new methods for enhancing good communication by management. New theoretical perspectives are sought in relation to results, engagement and health issues.

About Catrin Johansson:
Dr. Catrin Johansson is Professor in Organizational Communication at Mid Sweden University, Department of Media and Communication. She is a recognized expert in communication, leadership, and organizational change and has published a number of international journal articles and three books in Swedish: “Visions and realities – A case study of communication on corporate strategy” (2003), “Communication in Organizations” (2005/2012), and “Communication in Change Processes” (2008). Her research appears in Corporate Communications – An International Journal, Journal of Applied Communication Research, Journal of Communication Management, Public Relations Review, and Nordicom Review. She serves on the editoral boards of Management Communication Quarterly, Corporate Communications – An International Journal, and Journal of Communication Management. She is an active member of ECREA, EUPRERA, ICA, and NCA.
She teaches communication and leadership and organizational change at Mid Sweden University and BI, Norwegian Business School. She has been a visiting scholar at the Department of Communication at the University of California, Santa Barbara during the Fall quarter 2009. She has held a position as member of the board at Mid Sweden University between 2008 and 2011. She was appointed as vice head of department at the Department of Media and Communication between 2003 and 2005. She earned her doctoral degree in Media and Communication Science from Uppsala University in 2003, and received her M.A. in Languages Education; Swedish, English, and French from Linköping University 1991.
Please note that Catrin will also give a lecture targeted and open to students working on master thesis, especially on organizational communication, communicative leadership etc. related areas. The lecture takes place on Thursday, February 20th, at 10 (room F251).
