Energy Transition study module at the University of Vaasa
Energy transition is usually understood as the decarbonisation of the global energy sector from fossil-based to zero-carbon by the second half of this century. At its heart is the need to reduce energy-related CO2 emissions to limit climate change.
Although the current energy transition is mainly driven by environmental sustainability concerns and is driven by technological development, it will only succeed if it simultaneously provides energy security and access, and facilitates economic growth and development.
A multidisciplinary perspective on energy transition is presented in this module, covering technological, economic, and societal security and resilience aspects.
