New students arrived on campus

New students arrived on campus on Wednesday 28th of August. Studies start with the orientation days which will last from Wednesday to Friday. During the three day orientation new students gain information about the University, their field of study as well as academic studies. Actual studies start in the beginning of September.

Approximately 480 new students start their studies in Bachelor’s Programmes and 120 in Master’s Programmes held in Finnish.

The University and the student union work in close cooperation on taking in the new students. Tutors work as links between the new students and the University community. They familiarise the students with campus area and the city of Vaasa as well as help with the beginning of studies and student life.

Students from all around the world

Almost 150 new international exchange students and 100 international postgraduate students start their studies this autumn as well. Exchange students arrive mostly from Europe and postgraduate students from all over the world: altogether there are students from 40 different countries.

International tutors will welcome the new international students. Tutors are University’s postgraduate students, and they have contacted the new students before their arrival. Tutors will familiarise the international students with the university community, campus and the city, and will support in everyday matters.

The induction of degree and exchange students started on Monday 28th of August. The students receive information about the studies, living in Finland and services available to students in Vaasa during the orientation days.
