Safe return to campus starting from 11 October

Vaasan yliopiston marmoriportti
The coronavirus guidelines of the University of Vaasa have been updated concerning, for example, the use of face masks and keeping a safe distance from others. The new guidelines take effect on 11 October 2021.

We encourage students and staff to get vaccinated as recommended. The university is preparing to abandon all restrictions at the turn of the year

Face masks and a safe distance

We recommend taking breaks in turns and using a face mask as recommended in our region by the hospital district. The recommendation to use a face mask is valid until the end of October. A safe distance of two metres to others is no longer required on campus

Teaching arrangements

On-campus teaching can be increased from 11 October if it is appropriate and possible. Lectures for large groups can be done remotely, but it is desirable to increase small-group work on campus. Teaching can also be arranged in a hybrid mode if needed (some students are on campus and some participate remotely)

There are no restrictions on the use of rooms for less than 100 people. For more than 100 people, a maximum of 75% of the capacity is recommended.

We aim to return to normal teaching arrangements on 1 January 2022.

Events

Events can be organised on campus starting from 11 October according to the following principles:

  • The event organiser is responsible for practices concerning health safety. People should only come to the event if healthy and use a face mask.
  • Indoors, there are no restrictions on the use of rooms for less than 100 people. For more than 100 people, a maximum of 75% of the capacity is recommended.
  • Outdoors, events are organised following the current recommendations and regulations of the authorities.

If necessary, we will update the coronavirus guidelines in accordance with the instructions and recommendations issued by the authorities to ensure the safety of students and staff and the stability of our operations. If the epidemic situation changes, the instructions may need to be changed and events that have already been planned may have to be cancelled.

Get to know the instructions on returning to campus in their entirety.

See you on campus!
