Strong support for the energy sector: educational cooperation between University of Vaasa and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences to continue in the field of technology
The University of Vaasa and Vaasa University of Applied Sciences have agreed to establish a network for educational cooperation in the field of technology. The agreement is a continuation of the close cooperation in technology education that started in 2015–2016. The cooperation advances the quality and scope of studies as well as their relevance to working life. It also enables individual study paths.
– Collaborative studies increase the options of university students and the networking between future bachelors and masters of science. Special attention is paid to the needs of the energy technology cluster in the Vaasa region, says Rector Jari Kuusisto from the University of Vaasa.
President, CEO Kati Komulainen from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences highlights their close cooperation with the working life.
– The cooperation is based on the labour force needs in the region. We are especially responding to the growing shortage of experts in the fields of technology. Collaborative studies expand cooperation between professions already during studies.
Students gain a broader perspective
The distribution of teaching contents and pooling of teaching resources is widest between the education in electrical engineering and information technology of the university of applied sciences and the bachelor's degree programme in energy and information technology of the university.
Especially in the early stages of their careers, university students benefit from the strong working-life orientation and practicality of the tuition provided by the university of applied sciences. For the engineering students, on the other hand, the collaboration studies open smooth advancement opportunities to master's degree studies in technology at the University of Vaasa.
Registration to the studies is open to the engineering students of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences and bachelor’s and master’s degree students in technology (energy and information technology, and information systems science and industrial management) at the University of Vaasa. Students of the open university of applied sciences and open university route in the abovementioned degree programmes can also register.
