The University of Vaasa has been awarded an internationally renowned six-year AACSB accreditation for business studies. The recognition reflects excellence and high quality in economics and business administration education and research. Less than 6 percent of the world's schools offering business degree programs have received AACSB accreditation. AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network.

– I am delighted that our university has received AACSB accreditation. Our mission is to advance sustainable business, energy and society, and today’s accreditation success is a great recognition of our work. I would like to warmly thank everyone in our community who has contributed to this important effort, says Minna Martikainen, Rector of the University of Vaasa.

AACSB accreditation ensures continuous improvement and provides focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. AACSB-accredited schools have successfully undergone a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, ensuring that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate, future-focused business education.

– AACSB accreditation is a mark of excellence we are proud of. We view our engagement with AACSB as a commitment to delivering the best possible value for our students and stakeholders now and in the future, says Martin Meyer, Vice-Rector for international affairs and the Vice-Rector responsible for the AACSB accreditation.

Three schools at the University of Vaasa participated in the accreditation. According to Adam Smale, Dean of the School of Management, this kind of accreditation is only possible due to the commitment and high-quality work of professional and academic personnel, as well as students, across all areas of activity - education, research and societal impact.

– I am so immensely proud of all the hard work that has gone into this by such a large number of people over many years. This achievement is further evidence that we are among the leading universities offering business studies in Finland, says Smale.

Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally. Through the recent ratification, a total of 1,036 institutions across 65 countries and territories has earned AACSB accreditation in business.

 – AACSB accreditation recognises institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning, says Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB.

– We congratulate the University of Vaasa on earning accreditation and applaud the entire team, staff, and students, for their roles in earning this respected honor.

Bryant says that the University of Vaasa’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication—not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole.

– Today’s students are tomorrow’s business leaders, and the addition of University of Vaasa to the network of AACSB-accredited business schools will have a lasting positive impact for their institution, both locally and globally.
