Tariq Kamal is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Power Electronics and Control Systems (PECS) Research Group with the School of Technology and Innovations at the University of Vaasa, Vaasa, Finland. His current research interests include advanced intelligent controls techniques (Neuro-fuzzy, Adaptive, Artificial Intelligence, Sliding Mode, Predictive Control) to power systems; power electronics; modelling, control, and analysis of power systems; hybrid renewable energy systems (solar photovoltaic, wind, fuel cells, hydro including microgrid design, power management and power market); Electric Vehicles and their integration in power systems; hybrid energy storage system and storage (hydrogen, super-capacitor, diesel engine/microturbine, battery); distributed generation; smart grid applications; and the application of signal processing (wavelets, B-spline functions) in power systems.
