The summer school invites students from different universities, nurturing a multicultural atmosphere where students get to work with people from different fields and backgrounds.
– We are very much looking forward to the third University of Vaasa international summer school. This is an excellent programme for students to learn about start-ups and entrepreneurship, as it combines latest academic knowledge with practical activities and workshops in a very interesting way. We’re also happy to be able to show our beautiful campus during August, when summer in Vaasa is at its best, says Talent Hub Manager Hanna Turpeinen.
This opportunity is especially interesting for students aiming to build a global start-up or seeking to work at an established company addressing global market needs. Students can come from different academic disciplines and levels.
For students from abroad, the summer school is a great possibility to get to know Vaasa and Finland, get valuable insights from renowned academics and industry leaders, and to network.
For students already in Vaasa, the summer school offers a possibility to pursue their studies during summer and meet students from other universities in an international, culturally diverse setting.
Nethradayie Muthukumarana and Asiim Ahmed participated in the summer school last year. They both found the experience beneficial for their future.
– I have learned a lot of things, I have learned how to make a business plan, and how to go and present my idea. What I have learned here I can directly apply to my field of studies, says Nethradayie.
– We are learning about entrepreneurship, culture analysis and so many different aspects of business. I think these things will really help in my career, says Asiim.
Coming from the Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, Asiim was also happy to learn about the Finnish culture. He praises the many social activities organised during the programme.
– My experience at the University of Vaasa has been amazing. We did so many social activities and we had so much cultural diversity here. I’m very glad of these experiences.
The application for summer school 2024 is open until 22 May 2024. For University of Vaasa students and students from partner universities, the summer school is free of charge.
