New students arrived on campus on Wednesday 26th of August. Studies start with the orientation days that last from Wednesday to Friday. Actual studies start in the beginning of September.

Approximately 610 new students start their studies in Bachelor’s Programmes and 120 in Master’s Programmes held in Finnish.

The University and the student union work in close cooperation on receiving the new students. Tutors work as links between the news students and the University community. They familiarise the students with the University, the campus area and the city of Vaasa as well as help with the beginning of studies and student life. During the three day orientation new students get information about the studies and get to know the University community.

Students from all around the world

Almost 150 new international exchange students and 100 international postgraduate students start their studies this autumn as well. Exchange students come mostly from Europe and postgraduate students from all over the world: altogether there are students from 80 different countries. Also international students’ studies begin with an orientation week.

The induction of degree and exchange students started on Monday 24 August. The students receive information about the studies, living in Finland, and services available to students in Vaasa during the orientation days.
