Professor Arto Ojala elected as a member of the Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences

– I am very pleased to have been invited to join the Academy of Technical Sciences. The Academy plays a significant role in strengthening technical expertise and promoting its visibility in Finland, and it is an honor to be part of this work. I believe that through my membership, I can contribute to raising the profile of the University of Vaasa and the Vaasa economic region in national discussions, says Professor Arto Ojala.

The Academy's mission is to promote technical-scientific and economic research, education, and culture, to facilitate the application of research results and technical achievements for the development of Finnish industry, other sectors of the economy, and society, and to advance sustainable development both in Finland and internationally, as well as to enhance the prestige of the fields it represents.

Ojala's selection as a member of the Academy is based on his extensive research work, particularly in the commercialisation of software engineering and space technologies. The appointment was confirmed during the Academy's election session in May 2024
