Research Act and Teaching Act of the Year 2015 Awards
University of Vaasa granted the Research Act and Teaching Act awards of last year in the anniversary ceremony on Monday 27th of January. Research Act of the Year 2015 award was granted to Professor Seppo Niemi from the Faculty of Technology. University Lecturer Ari Huuhka from the Faculty of Business Studies received Teaching Act of the Year 2015 award.
Professor Niemi was awarded as a distinguished figure in research projects of the strategic top know-how concentration. University Lecturer Huuhka was awarded for development of learning by doing methods and collaboration of the universities.
The Student Union of the University of Vaasa awarded Riitta Viitala with the Hyvä opettaja award and Kim Sandvad West with the Best International Teacher award.
50 years from the decision to found the University
On the 27th of January 1966 the Council of State made a decision to establish a School of Economics and Business Administration in Vaasa.
The 50 anniversary of the University of Vaasa will be celebrated in 2018. The first students of the Vaasa School of Economics and Business Administration arrived in September 1968 to Raastuvankatu and studied in the annex of the Commercial School.
