Studying in summer 2021

When planning your summer studies, please be in contact with your study counselor. Especially if you are completing studies at another university, please remember to check the course compensation possibilities with your study counselor. Studies at open universities are usually subject to a charge. More information about credit transfers and study fee compensations regarding courses completed at open universities or summer universities is available at the website for Modules and minor subjects, in the “Compensation for open or summer university study fees” section.

The electronic exam room and the national exam visit opportunities are available for the whole summer. Between the 21 June and the 1 August, the exam facilities at the University of Vaasa have limited opening times. Students can write exams from Monday to Friday between 9.00 and 15.00. More information about the electronic exam service is available at the website for Completion and Assessment of Studies, in the “EXAM” section.

Information about financial aid for summer studies can be found at Kela’s website, in the “Study during the summer months” section. Kela’s financial aid for students of Higher Education Institutions during summer is granted based on applications. You can be granted financial aid for the time you applied it for. Apply for it online. Log in to Kela's online customer service (in Finnish only) using your bank ID or a mobile ID. Please keep in mind that taking out financial aid for summer studies counts to your total eligibility for financial aid, which is calculated in months. Any summer months which a student receives financial aid for are also taken into account when checking the student’s annual income and monitoring their progress in their studies.

Study counselors and other personnel of the Student Services in Tervahovi and Fabriikki, such as Admission Services, will mostly be out of office in July. Mobility Services can be reached throughout the summer by e-mail (outgoing.international(at)uwasa.fi). Also the Education Systems Services (edusys(at)uwasa.fi) can be reached by e-mail. However, in July there can be delays in responses.

Tritonia Library is open with limited services. Between 31 May and 18 July as well as between 2 and 29 August, their opening hours are Mondays at 11-17 and Tue-Thu at 11-16. The library is closed on Fridays and Saturdays. Between 19 July and 1 August, the library is closed. More information is available from Tritonia.

FSHS in Vaasa is open throughout the summer except on Midsummer Eve (25 June). The service unit in Vaasa is open Mo-Thu at 8 -15 and Fridays at 8-14. However, FSHS will focus on urgent cases during summer. The national telephone services are available throughout the summer. More information about nationwide opening hours of the FSHS can be found on their website, in the “News” section.
