University of Vaasa received a significant donation
Fund-raising campaign got off to a great start. Evald and Hilda Nissi Foundation donates one million euros to University of Vaasa.
– This is our 50th year in operation. Instead of solemnities, we decided to take our significant year into account by investing to the future, and the University of Vaasa was a natural fit, says Juhani Lassila, chairman of the board of foundation.
Evald and Hilda Nissi Foundation has supported the University of Vaasa since its founding.
The universities’ new fund-raising campaign began in November and lasts until 2017. The Rector of University of Vaasa Matti Jakobsson says that with this donation it is easier to leave the university to his successor.
– The successful fund-raising in 2014-2017 will maintain the success of the University of Vaasa and the regional well-being in the coming years, says Jakobsson.
The previous fund-raising campaign in 2010-2011 was an excellent success in University of Vaasa. The profit of the capital has been used straight for the good of research and teaching.
