Moving to the new position from Wärtsilä Finland Oy, Soini has strong marketing and communications experience from leadership positions within energy and technology companies. Since 2018, she has worked as the Communications Director of Wärtsilä Finland Oy, where she was responsible for internal and external communications and marketing of Wärtsilä’s domestic operations as well as the new and unique Sustainable Technology Hub built in Vaasa.
Before Wärtsilä, Soini worked in other marketing and communications positions, for example, with EPV Energy Group and Taloudellinen tiedotustoimisto (now TAT Economy and Youth).
– Hanna-Mari Soini is the hard-core professional that the University of Vaasa needs now when our focus turns more towards international markets, both in student recruitment as well as research activities. Soini’s experience will be of great importance to our multi-channel marketing and communications, says Rector Jari Kuusisto.
Hanna-Mari Soini will join the university management group. As the marketing and communications director, her responsibilities will focus on strengthening the profile and brand of the university at the national and international levels, comprehensively developing marketing, promoting research communication, and building the employer brand of the university. Soini will also have an active role in the university’s cooperation networks that are related to communications.
– I appreciate the international nature of the University of Vaasa, its high-quality research and education, and its cooperation with the business world. It is fantastic to become a part of this scientific community, which is of great importance to the Vaasa region. The University of Vaasa has excellent potential to be an increasingly attractive place to study and work, both nationally and internationally. I look forward to the possibility of long-term development to strengthen the university's brand and profile together with other professionals, says Soini.
