Vaasa Climate Commitment

Co-funded by the European union
Research Council of Ostrobothnia

Objective

The goal of the Vaasa Climate Commitment project is to create an ecosystem for carbon neutrality efforts in Vaasa. The project brings together the city, educational institutions, and businesses to advance carbon neutrality targets.

Actions

Key actions include an engagement campaign for local businesses and educational institutions, the development of a joint climate adaptation roadmap, and the creation of a climate budgeting and monitoring system.

Results

The project will result in an ecosystem-based operating model, a climate commitment, a roadmap with common guidelines, and an open monitoring system. Vaasa’s strong culture of collaboration and the RDI expertise of its higher education institutions play a crucial role in achieving the city’s carbon neutrality goals while also strengthening student integration into the region.
