UN sustainable development goal: Life on land
The growing rate of biodiversity loss is one of humanity’s most pressing issues, alongside—and inextricably tied to—climate change. To varying degrees, all human actions impact the natural environment and its biodiversity. Life on Earth is where we witness the most immediate effects. One of the instruments we employ to measure impacts is space data from Earth-orbiting satellites. The University of Vaasa is exploring the use of space data. It will help in understanding strategies for preventing and reducing emissions. It will also assist in identifying the necessary steps and monitoring their effectiveness.
UN's Sustainable Development Goals
Humanity faces significant challenges because of its own actions. The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development addresses these challenges with a lofty objective: to place global development on a path to ensure human well-being and human rights, economic prosperity, and social stability in an environmentally sustainable manner. These are the challenges that the University of Vaasa is also addressing. Click on the icons below to see examples of our sustainability work.
